The Activities Aide is responsible for implementing and assisting with activity programs as scheduled. This position provides meaningful activities to residents in an effort to promote independence and provide a positive quality of life.
Creates programs and interacts with residents, families, and other staff members. Implements and assists with scheduled activity programs. Helps patients with participating in activities including use of recreational equipment and supplies. Assists in leading group activities as needed. Participates in creative planning sessions and program development for residents with various levels of cognitive functioning and physical abilities. Escorts residents to and from activity programs. Charts activity attendance in the computer system. Assists in emergencies within the department when needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Some knowledge of skills, activities, and equipment used (i.e. arts, crafts, music) for the geriatric population preferred. Must have a genuine interest in the emotional, spiritual and recreational needs of the senior population and a good understanding of the aging process.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses / Certifications:
If applicable the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, the use of personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies pertaining to infection control. Ability to read, write and maintain records as directed.
