The Department of Surgery at Westchester Medical Center is seeking an academic burn surgeon for the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth). Qualifications/Requirements: The successful candidate will be board certified in General Surgery or Plastic Surgery with fellowship training in burns and critical care, and academic leadership experience.
The Burn Center at Westchester Medical Center is the only Burn Center between New York City and the Canadian border in Eastern New York, offering hope for survival and meaningful recovery to hundreds of burn victims each year. The Burn Center serves the entire Hudson Valley, encompassing a large catchment area from which most of the region’s burn patients are referred. Westchester Medical Center is also home to the regional Advanced Wound Therapy and Hyperbaric Center, treating burn victims and people with a wide variety of injuries and wounds. The Burn Section comprises a multidisciplinary team, providing advanced, high quality healthcare in an academic setting. The Burn team consists of doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other supportive services who work together to provide the best possible care. The facility includes a Burn ICU with an adjacent, dedicated Burn Operating Room.
Westchester Medical Center is a 600-bed hospital serving as the primary teaching affiliate for New York Medical College, with state-of-the-art pathology, diagnostic and imaging at all of our facilities. In addition to the medical school of New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center is home to a categorical general surgery residency program, an ACGME accredited surgical critical care fellowship, and a Burn Surgery fellowship. Trainees at all levels, as well as advanced practice providers, help comprise the multidisciplinary team that provides care to burn patients. The Section of Burn Surgery falls within the Department of Surgery and benefits from the academic, administrative and clinical infrastructure of the Department, including the Department of Surgery Clinical Research Unit (DSCRU), which consists of research coordinators and biostatisticians to assist faculty and trainees in all research activities. Participation in teaching activities with medical students, residents, fellows and other medical staff members, as well as scholarly contributions and collaborative research, are expected. Salary and faculty appointment will be commensurate with experience.
