The Concierge Services Coordinator is responsible for scheduling, registering and obtaining authorization for outpatient services for Bon Secours, Good Samaritan and St. Anthony Hospitals. This position oversees the daily functions of the department by engaging and educating staff while maintaining process flow.
Interviews patients for upcoming outpatient services within the system. Accurately schedules all outpatient invasive, non-invasive and interventional case types. Ensures correct insurance is loaded into the system and obtains accurate authorizations in pursuit of payment to avoid denials. Completes registrations to assist in a speedy check-in process for front line registration areas. Attends ongoing trainings and assists in interdepartmental training programs. Transcribes and interprets physician and incoming orders with utmost accuracy. Validates medical necessity through interpreting orders or clinical documentation. Maintains all department and Radiologist schedules within the appropriate applications. Acts as liaison between front line registration, ancillary departments, patients, staff, physicians, communities and management. Manages designated work queues and maintains quality assurance by initiating process improvements as necessary. Intercepts calls when needed for appropriate resolutions in a professional and timely manner. Covers for authorization and scheduling staff when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in scheduling and authorization.
Associate degree preferred or a combination of education and experience.
Licenses / Certifications:
If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control. Must possess a working knowledge of common healthcare concepts, practices, procedures and medical terminology. Intermediate level of computer knowledge necessary to operate multiple software systems. Developed written and oral communication skills required.
