The Director of Nursing(DON) is a registered nurse at the executive level with the knowledge andability to plan, organize, supervise and direct the general nursing care andtreatment services of the hospital. The DON plans, develops and implementsnursing programs, policies and procedures; provides consultative, directive,and advisory services for the purpose of maintaining nursing standards of carefor the facility. The DON functions as a liaison between the NursingDepartment, other disciplines, and the community; ensures that the resourcesnecessary for the provision of nursing services (i.e., personnel, equipment,budget, etc.) are available and that all nursing standards and regulations aremet to comply with survey and licensure requirements. The DON ensures thenursing department functions in accordance with current federal, state, andlocal standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and asmay be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure thatthe highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Budget – Responsible for the ongoing monitoringof the capitol and operational budget for Nursing. Quality – Actively participates in thefacilities Quality Improvement Activities. Directs Nursing department programs tofacilitate care delivery. Displays leadership skills by developingdepartmental goals and communicating standards of performance. Maintains patients’ rights and organizationalethics. Ensures continuum of care. Manages the environment of care. Manages information through clear and consistentcommunication.QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIREMENTS:
Five years of Clinical Experience with Twoyears’ experience.
Graduate of Accredited School ofProfessional Nursing as a RN BSN preferred.Licenses /Certifications:CurrentNYS RN License; BLS required.
