Job Details:
The Development Officer will develop, implement, and manage fundraising programs that lead to increasing support (gifts of $1,000 – 25,000) for WMCHealth through the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Foundation leadership, develops and establishes short and long-term fundraising goals and strategies for existing and prospective donors.
- Cultivates individual giving, and support Network and local strategies for corporate giving, special event fundraising and fundraising initiatives.
- Develops donor support with a focus on identified institutional priorities through multiple channels including face to face personal solicitation, direct mail, e-communications, and more.
- Assists in identifying annual giving prospects with the capacity for major gift support and work to develop donor outreach and relationships as appropriate.
- Develops, manages, and expand the portfolio of donors.
- Identifies new prospects, create donor strategies, and engage with the Network Development team to promote effective stewardship activities.
- Works with regional leadership on individual board member engagement for the purpose of growing the board, encouraging board participation, and managing fundraising opportunities.
- Collaborates with Development team to develop a volunteer structure to support annual giving activities.
- Attends, supports, and participates in meetings and special events, including early mornings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Performs other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
3 to 5 years of related experience in annual gift fundraising; healthcare experience preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma required.Bachelor's degree preferred.
Other:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents. Ability to communicate effectively using a high level of written and oral communication skills, persuasiveness, imagination, and insight, as evidenced by the ability to present the aims and objectives of the development program in a manner that effectively informs and persuades others. Knowledge of and technically familiar with traditional and innovative fundraising programs; skill and ability to work with faculty and staff members to identify needs consistent with the vision of the institution. Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs preferred. The individual in this role must be able to be flexible in work environment and location, well organized and manage time effectively and efficiently.
Special Requirements:
The primary area of responsibility for this role will be to support fundraising for St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick, NY and Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, NY, but also to collaborate with the Foundation team whose central office is in Suffern, New York on the campus of Good Samaritan Hospital.
