The Informatics Nurse is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and maintaining the clinical information system to ensure that Bon Secours Charity is consistent within its practices and strategic objectives. This position acts as a liaison between IS and the clinical areas of the facilities, Enterprise Bon Secours Mercy Teams and outside vendors. In addition, the Informatics Nurse performs analysis and implementation of computer applications for nursing documentation and information tracking.
Supports the networks and other devices associated with documenting in the Connect Care system. Advises the Nursing Administration to assess and plan for new information systems. Assists in the evaluation of new clinical software applications and products. Develops specifications for system capabilities and enhancements. Participates in product demonstrations and site visits. Provides consultative services regarding workflow processes and technological solutions. Coordinates pre and post implementation activities of clinical system installations in accordance with Bon Secours Charity standards. Assists in the development of training manuals, system documentation and procedure development. Coordinates and assists in quality assurance testing of clinical systems software and assists in end user issue resolution. Participates in departmental surveys and impact analysis. Formulates policies and procedures associated with clinical information systems. Assists in testing new applications and upgrades to existing systems. Participates in clinical user groups and Charity patient care leadership meetings to guide teams toward problem resolution and system optimization. Identifies opportunities for process re-engineering within nursing and coordinates the implementation. Participates in project management processes including project documentation, monitoring of overall project progress, project communication, and management. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements:
2-5 years of practicing as a nurse and previous informatics experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics.
Licenses / Certifications:
ANCC Informatics Certification preferred.
