The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for preserving and enhancing the buildings, equipment and critical infrastructure in the most cost effective manner. Must exemplify high standards of service, excellence in all interactions with consumers, patients, residents, visitors, physicians, and employees. This position will work independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. They will troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. Facilitates mechanical, pneumatic and electrical repairs and/or other types of repairs relating to maintenance of the physical structure of the facility.
Completes all maintenance service requests as assigned. Works within expense limits established. Maintains inventory controls for cost effective operations. Schedules and completes the “Preventative Maintenance Program”. Coordinates special projects as directed by Engineering/Facilities Supervisor. Assists in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors. Responsible for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled. Carry pager/cell phone as required for on-call maintenance. Monitors and maintains all building systems as assigned. Completes groundwork as directed by Engineering/Facilities Supervisor. Alerts the Engineering/Facilities Supervisor of any unusual occurrence and/or damage that have taken place or that may occur. Maintains good public relations and interpersonal skills. Assures safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines. Ensures compliance of all work related activities in a fair, ethical, and consistent manner. Follows established company policies and those outlined in the Employee Guidebook. Repairs and maintains plant machinery and equipment such as mixers, conveyors, compressors, and pumps. Repairs or replaces control devices such as switches, photo eyes, proximity sensors, pushbuttons, contactors, motor starters, etc. as needed Performs work order repairs, inspections and adjustments. Sets up and operate welders, drill press, grinder, hand tools and other metal working equipment. Fabrications and modifications of new and existing equipment. Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs. Independently performs: Light Bulb Changes, Caulking, Filter Changes, Painting, Lock Repairs, Install/Repair Window Coverings, Preventative Maintenance, Moderate Plumbing Repairs, Moderate Electrical Repairs and Troubleshooting, Electric Bed Repairs and Troubleshooting, HVAC Repairs, Vinyl Repair, Multi Surface Wall repairs and Reconstructing. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements:
2 years healthcare experience preferred in maintenance/engineering. Highly experienced in mechanical repairs required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Licenses / Certifications:
Class C; D.E.C. Underground Storage Tank Certification preferred.
If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control. B.M.S. experience preferred. Employee must have means to get to and from their job site within their scheduled working hours. Travels outside the office in all weather conditions. Walks, stands, reaches, stoops, crawls under, or into various equipment and climbs ladders. May be subject to adverse working conditions related to the plant function matters of which conditions can include hazardous materials, waste disposal and equipment maintenance. Works outside of patient care areas where there is potential for exposure to dust, dirt, noise and other potentially uncomfortable work conditions. This job requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.
