Job Summary:

Under the collaboration and direction of Perioperative Leadership and Director of Nursing Education, the Perioperative Clinical Resource Coordinator is responsible for: · The effective implementation of staff orientation and nursing education in the Operating Rooms, Pre-Op areas, PACUs, Endoscopy, and Sterile Processing departments. Educating staff at all levels; from basic to advanced skills. · Promoting excellence in nursing as a resource and a role model, · Promoting and encouraging acceptance of AORN recommended practices as the criteria by which standards are developed · Working as an advanced practice nurse who applies an expanded range of practical, theoretical, and evidence-based competencies to the dynamic and diverse patient care populations and environments within Perioperative Services. · Through direct observation and participation in patient and family care, will assess, plan, implement and evaluate strategies to maintain excellence in patient care. · Performing as practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, mentor, and leader in collaboration with the health care team. · Actively participate in quality improvement projects to promote improved nursing-sensitive, patient outcomes. · Assure and maintain staff competencies and reviewing said competencies for efficacy and efficiency. Measuring skills required to comply with regulatory criteria, including maintaining records of certifications (i.e. CNOR, ACLS, PALS, BLS) · Arrange and maintain in-service calendar and educate staff on new techniques, supplies, and equipment. · Attend various quality committees as well as OR Committee. · Participates in the orientation of various students who rotate through the Perioperative arena, including but not limited to PA students, Medical Students, Surgical Technician students.

Plans and assists in development of unit specific competencies. EDUCATION · Plans, develops and presents evidenced-based educational programs in response to periodic needs assessments. Completes CEU packet.score: N/A · Updates/prepares teaching outlines, self-learning modules, learning worksheets, and other teaching aids based on evidenced-based researchscore: N/A · Collaborates with Nurse Manager in preparing a unit specific annual education calendar to meet unit needs. Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

· Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Perioperative Services. · Demonstrated leadership skills; team builder, superior communication skills. Prior teaching experience preferred.

Education:

· Masters Degree in Nursing or Education preferred. · Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or health-related field required.

Licenses / Certifications:

· Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in NY State. · Perioperative ACLS and PALS preferred · CNOR preferred. · AHA certification preferred
