Stroke Neurology Physician Assistant – Westchester Medical Center – Valhalla, New York Summary – Westchester Medical Center’s Brain and Spine Institute is looking for a Physician Assistant to join the growing Vascular Neurology department. The candidate would be integral to the further expansion the rapidly growing stroke and neurointerventional services, along with an evolving telestroke program for the Hudson Valley and Western Connecticut. The PA functions in an Advanced Practice role as a clinical expert in management of inpatients across the continuum of care. Practicing within developed Standardized Procedures and Process Protocols the PA plans, implements and evaluates the plan of care; evaluates, manages and coordinates care of patients under the supervision and collaboration with Neurology staff. The PA will provide direct and independent patient care and supports physicians in caring for all inpatient hospital stroke patients. The PA will be responsible to attend daily rounds on the stroke service, perform medical and neurological evaluations, treatment, follow-up and consultation for stroke patients per protocol. Additionally, prepares and presents QA and QI data pertaining to Neurology stroke discharges. The PA will also work with QA representatives to ensure accuracy of stroke patient’s statistics, including all applicable Regulatory stroke patient indicators and patient compliance. Additional responsibilities may also include the review of medical records for all of stroke patients on the Neurology services to assure all stroke quality measures are documented appropriately, participation in various committees, facilitation of ongoing community education in stroke support groups, supporting the provision of in-service training for clinical education as it relates to stroke care, and evaluating stroke data. Candidates must be board certified as a Physician Assistant and possess or be able to obtain a license in New York.
