Job Summary:

Recreational Therapy Aide is responsible for assistant with motivating residents’ participation in activity programs as scheduled. Conducts activities session throughout the Home as assigned; reports attendance.


  • Conducts activity sessions including individual and group programs. May include, but not limited to, exercise, stimulation games, waking group, sports and games, arts and crafts, music, pet therapy, movies, bingo, social visits.
  • Assists in staging social events such as birthday parties, concerts, musicals, dances and seasonal parties including transporting, decorating, serving and celebrating.
  • Sets up and operates equipment as required.Transports residents safely to and from events.
  • Records on Statistic Sheet residents at program.
  • Participates in creative planning sessions, program development and idea sharing.
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for residents, visitors and staff.
  • Responds appropriately in emergency situations, knows and responds to fire safety procedures.
  • Responds to custom concerns as soon as possible with compassion and understanding.
  • Maintains a safe and comfortable environment for residents, visitors and staff.
  • Works with volunteers and provides direction as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:


Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with the elderly in a health care setting. Therapeutic recreation experience preferred.


High School diploma or equivalent.

Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
