Job Details:
WMCHealth is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Hematologist/Oncologist to serve as Medical Director for its Orange County cancer program. This physician leader will oversee ambulatory hematology/oncology practice and infusion centers while maintaining an active clinical practice.
Working with administrative, nursing, and clinical leaders, the Medical Director will advance program growth, quality, accreditation, physician engagement, operational performance, and comprehensive cancer services across the region.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Provide physician leadership for Orange County oncology services, including infusion center clinical operations, quality, safety, and performance at St. Anthony Community Hospital and Port Jervis Community Hospital.
· Partner with nursing and administrative leaders to optimize workflows, staffing, patient experience, and operational efficiency.
· Lead evidence-based pathways, quality initiatives, and multidisciplinary care delivery.
· Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, engagement, and retention of physicians and advanced practice providers.
· Collaborate with regional and network leadership on strategy, growth, budgets, resource allocation, and capital planning.
· Build relationships with referring physicians, community providers, and hospital leadership.
· Lead or participate in cancer service line committees, physician councils, and institutional governance.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Maintain an active community-based hematology and medical oncology practice.
· Participate in inpatient consultation and follow-up at St. Anthony Community Hospital and Port Jervis Community Hospital.
· Participate in care coordination, call coverage, and shared clinical responsibilities as needed.
· Collaborate with surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, palliative care, genetics, navigation, and supportive oncology services.
· Participate in tumor boards and disease-specific multidisciplinary conferences.
· Support clinical research and access to innovative therapies across the network.
Quality and Accreditation Responsibilities:
- Provide physician leadership for Commission on Cancer accreditation, regulatory compliance, and oncology quality programs.
· Partner with cancer registry, navigation, survivorship, and quality teams to monitor performance.
· Lead continuous improvement in clinical outcomes, access, patient experience, and operational performance.

Position Qualifications:
- MD or DO and completion of an accredited Hematology/Oncology fellowship.
· Board Eligible or Board Certified in Hematology and Medical Oncology; eligible for unrestricted New York State licensure.
· At least five years of clinical oncology experience; prior leadership in an oncology practice, infusion center, cancer program, or hospital-based service preferred.
· Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, multidisciplinary care, collaboration, and strategic physician leadership.
